“After successfully bagging the Gold & Silver in World DanceSport Federation Competitions in Taiwan & Thailand in 2017, Rajeswari Vaidyanathan & her partner Shannon Benjamin, the highly sought out couple in India to continuously bring laurels to our country in the field of Latin Ballroom dances such as Rumba, Cha Cha, Jive, and so on is prepping for their 1st competition of 2018 to 1st Malaysia WDSF Open DanceSport Championship 2018, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, this month, after a 2 month long intensive training with their new coach, World No.15 Slava Vishnekovs, who has won several prestigious competitions in Europe & Asia including the German Open, Polish & Baltic Championships.

Juggling with time has always been extremely difficulty, especially for Rajeswari Vaidyanathan who also runs the fastest growing Latin Ballroom dance school VR DanceSport in Mumbai, as well as prepare for major competitions globally, to represent India. DanceSport being part of the Indoor Asian Games & World Games, requires rigorous training and practice akin to any other sport. The couple is not only recognised as the best Latin dancers in India, but also as the only couple to dance it in an authentic international way, by several international judges and federations who have seen and witnessed the Latin dancing scene in India.

Spent  a great amount of time training students, adults and kids for social and competitive levels. Due to her training and expertise, she is able to deliver highest quality training in the shortest time. They also have to dedicate several hours a week imbibing the mechanics and techniques and practicing for hours at length. However, the training and being a DanceSport athlete is an expensive proposition and the duo also struggles to find sponsors who are willing to support the sport. Unfortunately, there is no support from corporates, the government or anyone else.

The dance form also requires ample space to practice for which their studio in Tardeo falls short. Despite financial constraints, they have to hire out bigger studios to practice, which puts a huge stress on their already restricted budget. Their favourite place has always been Integral Space in Lower Parel, I love the positivity in this place we always feel satisfied after practicing, adds Rajeswari.

In a special convergence of medical science with ancient science, doctors, medical practitioners and professionals of Lenmed Ahmed Kathrada Hospital in Lenasia, South Africa availed the opportunity to learn the importance of mindfulness and meditation in conventional medicinal treatment from award winning global mindfulness master Ishan Shivanand as the latter made his gracious presence to the hospital on Tuesday, 10th July on an invitational session – ‘Mindfulness Prescription with Ishan Shivanand’.

Speaking on the occasion, wellness wizard Ishan laid emphasis on the ironical need for doctors to de-stress themselves and be healthy in order to provide effective treatment, healing & cure to their patients. “Just like the doctors sanitise themselves before and after every patient visit, they ought to sanitise themselves on the emotional, mental and psychic level as well,” the young visionary stated, adding how medical schools such as Harvard had validated through research that mindfulness and meditation lower stress and thus create a perfect ground for faster healing.

The session, which was aired live to the global audience through social media, saw the master offering profound insights for honing the inner self to activate self healing capabilities. He taught the participating doctors meditative techniques, holistic healing protocols & perspective alterations to therapy in particular and life in general. He also harped on the fact that since every patient approaches a doctor in stress, with the hope of finding a cure to his ailments, there was an obvious need for doctors to be fountainhead of positive life force themselves.

In a discourse full of humour, Ishan said that meditation as a complement to medical science was an idea whose time had come and that doctors would see for themselves the convalescence rates improving if they factored in the subtle aspects of a disease, the roots. “A human being is a sum total of the body, mind, emotions and impressions. If we can take an integrative approach to treatment, we can experience more powerful and lasting cure to diseases plaguing man,” he stated.

The bi-lateral trade between India and Thailand is expected to touch 11,000 million US dollar during the current financial year ending December 2018, announced Ekapol Poolpipat, Consul General, Royal Thai Consulate-General Mumbai. The bi-lateral trade during the year ended December 2017 was around 10,000 million US dollar. Delivering a key note address at the inauguration of 3-day Thailand Week 2018 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregoan, Poolpipat said the bi-lateral trade between the two countries during the first four months-January to April 2018 have gone up considerably and touched 857 Million US dollar against 720 Million US dollar during the corresponding period of the previous year.

Earlier, famous and leading film actress, Divya Dutta, inaugurated the Thailand Week 2018 by lighting the lamp and cutting the ribbon. Inaugurating the trade show, Divya Dutta said Indian traders are very much interested in imports of Thailand products and services. However, India needs to improve infrastructural facilities including roads to facilitate the trade. Deepti Gupta, senior investment specialist, Department of Industrial Policy and promotion, ministry of commerce and industries, GoI talk about the rising trade opportunities between the India and Thiland. Around 10 million Indian work forces are joining every year and we see a momentum in manufacturing sector, Ms Gupta added.  The Thailand based companies which are operating in India plans to invest additional US dollar 3 billion by 2020. The investment will be made into green and brown field projects including Energy, infrastructure and metals, said Suwimol Tilokruangchai, executive director and consul, Thai Trade Center, Mumbai.
“We are looking towards India with a great interest from last seven decades and plans to enhance the bi-lateral trades thanks to the positive approach of both the Thai and Indian governments. The Thailand based companies see a big potential in Indian energy, metals as well as infrastructural facilities, she
added. Around 60 leading Thai companies were offering a wide range of products and technologies and it includes sectors like construction, automobile and car accessories, beauty and health care products, pet care products, food and food processing, household products and lifestyle products, he added.

The imports from Thailand includes top items like Machinery, Electrical machinery, plastic, organic chemicals, vehicles, rubber, copper, Iron/steel products, chemical products (misc) and Iron and steel. Part of an international series, this movement was created a decade ago by the visionary choreographer Dr. Sandip Soparrkar to help raise awareness about important social issues around the globe. This year’s chosen topic was Substance Abuse and Drug Addiction. With the help of the inspirational Varsha Naik and her Navrang Dance Academy, a transcendent evening of performance, community education and empowerment was arranged.  The event was held at J.P.Stevens High School, in Edison, New Jersey

The Event started with a beautiful musical rendition of the US national anthem and recital of the Indian National Anthem too.

The opening performance choreographed and written by Dr. Sandip Soparrkar was one of the most powerful and effective anti-drug messages. The audience was captivated by the narrative of the piece — the performers from Navrang Dance Academy including Varsha Naik helped bring the story to life in a way that made Dr. Soparrkar’s work easily accessible to all in attendance.

Later on, there were 11 beautiful dance performances from various talented artists. Multicultural and International Dance forms like – Bharatnatyam, Mohiniyattam, Colombian Salsa, Paraguay folk, Tap dance, Bachata, Indian folk, Tollywood, Ballroom, Bellydancing and Zumba fitness dance entertained the audience that evening. All encouraging the slogan Be high on dance not on drugs.

  

Dancers of many traditions came together for an evening of jaw-dropping performances and helped raise awareness about the dangers of Drug Addiction. Life was celebrated and honored through choreographed movement that uplifted the souls of all in attendance.

The Cheif guest and Keynote speaker for this years USA Dance Day was Lion Daniel M. Elkins. Mr Elkins is a professional drug prevention specialist and community mobilizer for the Delaware Prevention Coalition. He is also the charter president of Bellefonte Lions Club. Lion Daniel has dedicated himself to helping communities fight the rising drug epidemic in this nation.

Mr. Elkins said ” I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Soparrkar, Varsha Naik, and Navrang Dance Academy for hosting such a wonderfully positive event and for inviting me to participate. The outpouring of support from corporate sponsors, news media outlets, local government, and members of the community for this event is awe-inspiring. Everyone who helped Varsha Naik and Dr. Soparrkar make this incredible community event possible should be truly proud of their accomplishments.” He stressed on the importance on community support and education regarding the sensitive topic of drug abuse among teens and young adults.

Bollywood in Current times has numerous actors. The one thing is common in the film industry is chocolate heroes or lover boys. However, among all, there was one star who has not only considered chocolate hero, but also made a mark with as serious Roles. Yes, we are talking about none other than 90’s favourite chocolate hero, Chandrachur Singh. ChandrachurSingh has worked in many memorable films like Maachis, Tere Mere Sapne, Josh and so on. The 1996 Filmfare Award winner for Best Debut for  Maachis, Now made his singing debut with song, “Rangreeza” in the film Yadvi-The dignified Princess, accompanying him is the Pawani Panday, “Laila Main Laila” song fame.

He is playing a character of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala.  One of the Wealthiest and famous Maharaja of India, who was first to own an airplane in India, that also Write Brothers Model and donated Ranji Trophy for cricketers, which is still given to Cricketers till today. The Maharaja Is known for many contributions in history of India. Music Composed by Anuj Garg and panned by Nasir Faraz.

 

The film now is set to  release in Manhattan, New York and Beverly Hills, California. The film directed by New York Based Actress, Jyoti Singh with a script based on a real life story/Screenplay by Gauri Singh, her sister.  The film will screen at the Music Hall Theater, Beverly Hills, CA May 25 to May 31 (5 times a day for 7 days) and at the Cinema Village, Manhattan, NY, June 1 to June 7 (4 times/day for 7 days).

Chandrachur is very talented since childhood. Chandrachur is a trained classical singer and his passion is singing. Notably,before being casted for “Tere Mere Sapne” Amitabh Production,  he was teaching Music in Doon school, Dehra Dun.

Hetal shukla art exhibition titled “Eye Didn’t Note” inaugurated by Jaykumar Rawal (ministry of Tourism Govt of Maharashtra), Ram Shinde (Water Conservation and protocol) and Vijay Kalaantri (Voice Chairman, World Trade Centre Mumbai). The cognitive associations we attach to a currency note can sometimes be so powerful that we refuse to recognise it as anything else.

That’s the sort of mental shackle that artist Hetal Shukla wants to break with his latest exhibition, titled Eye Didn’t Note. For it, he asked 100 people, as an experiment, to recollect the images on a `100 note. But almost none of them could do so, because the only value they put to the piece of paper is monetary, not aesthetic, one. Shukla thus themed his exhibition around the subject, reimagining currency notes as more than just paper money. Pay a visit to Jehangir Art Gallery before May 21 to check them out.
